WIELICZKA SALT MINE TOUR

Wieliczka MineWieliczka Salt Mine is situated on the southeast outskirts of Krakow, which makes it a perfect choice for a half day trip. After a short drive you will descend to Wieliczka mine and enter the amazing subterranean world of salt. You will explore 3 kilometers (1.9-mile) of meandering corridors, 20 magnificent chambers and giant caverns, 3 majestic chapels, an underground lake, and dozens of unique sculptures carved in the salt rock by miners, before you reach the depth of 135 meters (443 ft) underground. The largest and most brilliant among underground chapels in Wieliczka is the Chapel of Saint Kinga, also known as a subterranean salt cathedral. Amazingly, even the crystals of the chandeliers are made from salt in Wieliczka! Exploration of this most unusual salt mine in the world (appreciated by UNESCO) takes approx. 3 hours. At the end of the tour, an elevator will return you to the surface and back to the world!
Note that temperature underground ranges between 14° and 16° C so please bring warm clothing. Also comfortable shoes are recommended as there are 800 steps to follow of which 350 at the beginning will take you down into the mine.
